The Risk Manager is responsible for monitoring and managing the following risk categories across BCB Group:
- Market risk (FX and cryptocurrency markets).
- Operational risk (predominantly settlement risk).
- Liquidity risk.
- Counterparty credit risk.
The risk manager will work across BCB Group’s international structure and ensure both a regulatory compliant view for individual legal entities, as well as a group-wide risk view.
In his role, the risk manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to continually align the risk management framework and -metrics with the growth path that BCB Group experiences.
- Establishing, documenting and evolving risk policies and practices.
- Drive implementation of appropriate checks, balances and control systems across BCB Group.
- Define limits for counterparties, clients and business lines and ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place to monitor limits.
- Closely monitor and actively manage all categories of risk, (operational, credit, market, strategic, liquidity and model risks).
- Developing, managing and refining qualitative and quantitative risk reporting which meets the needs of the Board of Directors and senior stakeholders in order to support effective decision making.
- Produce and evolve regular risk reporting to the Risk Committees of the relevant Boards of Directors.
- Ensure ongoing oversight of everyday risk management activities that are owned by the 1st line of defence.
- Continue to build out risk capabilities as regulatory landscape evolves; harvesting, analysing and assessing risk information across the geographies BCB Group does business in.
- Monitoring and analysing overall risk exposures of the business, including measuring all losses that the businesses in the region would experience under a variety of normal and extreme market conditions.
- Work closely with key 1st line of defense stakeholders in order to enable efficient and effective risk management across payments and trading lines of business.
- Support the 1st line in maintaining the company’s risk profile and determining and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

- Strong risk management experience in a financial institution.
- Good understanding of payments schemes (FPS, BACS, SEPA, SWIFT, SIC).
- Previous exposure to cryptocurrencies in a risk context preferred.
- Good understanding of the regulatory requirements of risk management (FCA, FINMA, etc.) for non-prudentially supervised firms.
- Fundamental understanding of OTC trading workflows.
- Fundamental understanding of bank treasury needs.
- Experience with derivative instruments desired.
- Experience in building a risk management frameworks is a plus.
- Entrepreneurship skills or experience.
- Management of stakeholders and their expectations.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver on a common goal.
- Can-do approach to problem solving.
- FRM, BTRM certificates, Masters Degree or equivalent is a plus.
