He notes that the DSD is designed to allow asset managers to continue routing orders through their current custodians while the underlying settlement engine transitions toward a multi-chain environment, suggesting a controlled migration rather than a systemic shock.

While Vincendon argues that tokenisation represents a fundamental shift from static electronic ledgers to programmable ones, he cautions that legal ambiguity remains regarding the irrevocable moment of transfer on a distributed ledger.

Ultimately, he suggests that as servicing models become more event-driven, custodians may transition from traditional record-keepers to secure key managers and node operators
