BCB Group Partners with Mambu and Clearbank

Outcomes

  • £6m+ annual revenue stream protected through resilient, scalable banking and payments infrastructure
  • Real-time euro payments delivered via SEPA Instant, 24/7 without the cost of being a direct participant
  • Multicurrency accounts launched in months, offering up to 11 fiat currencies through a single API
  • Virtual IBANs (vIBANs) delivering operational efficiency through automated routing and reconciliation

Founded in 2017 with a vision to integrate digital and traditional finance, BCB Group has rapidly become a trusted partner for businesses, providing dedicated payment services and infrastructure. Today, it delivers payment services in more than 30 currencies, FX, cryptocurrency liquidity, digital asset custody and BLINC, BCB’s free, instant settlements network for its client ecosystem.

Headquartered in London, BCB Group is regulated in the UK, France, Switzerland and Canada, serving more than 400 firms, including many of the largest liquidity providers, market makers, PSPs, OTC desks, exchanges and stablecoin issuers. In 2025, it processed $230bn in transactions and is transforming the landscape of digital payments, enabling businesses to store, trade, and earn in fiat, stablecoins, and cryptocurrencies with 24/7/365 availability.

Scaling European operations at pace through a proven partnership

As BCB Group sought to expand its services across multiple geographies, products, and volumes, it faced the challenge of scaling its core infrastructure to support this growth.

In 2026, BCB Group used its existing Mambu Payments infrastructure to implement European payment capabilities through ClearBank Europe in the Netherlands. The approach brought its rapidly expanding European business closer to the model it already used in the UK, where it had worked successfully with ClearBank for more than eight years.

ClearBank provides BCB Group and its customers with access to SEPA Instant, enabling real-time euro payments that clear end-to-end in under 10 seconds. Funds are credited to BCB Group customer accounts in real time, and because ClearBank’s platform is available 24/7, customers can move money whenever they need to.

As a result, BCB Group can offer its customers all the advantages of real-time euro payments in terms of speed and security without incurring the high operational costs of being a direct scheme member.

“Connecting with ClearBank Europe was a deliberate move to diversify our European banking providers and stand up separate, dedicated payment capabilities via ClearBank’s infrastructure,” explains Claire Barratt, Head of Banking at BCB Group. “They’ve been a fantastic partner to our UK business for a long time. ClearBank has been resilient, with very good uptime and a strong track record, so we want to keep building the relationship as we both expand into new regions and together bring new product functionality to our customers.”

Delivering rapid time to market and a robust foundation for future growth

To enhance its customer offering, BCB Group wanted to offer more fiat currencies and turned to ClearBank and Mambu to support that ambition. Through a single API, BCB Group now has the flexibility to deliver up to 11 fiat currencies to its end customers, fully integrated within its existing Mambu Payments platform.

“By leveraging Mambu’s single point of connectivity, we were able to add ClearBank’s multi-currency product quicker and build on the foundation set by our first project rather than starting from scratch each time. It lets us offer international payment accounts across eleven currencies, including USD, euro, and other key currencies,” says Barratt.

Operational efficiency is enhanced through ClearBank’s virtual multicurrency accounts, each with its own addressable vIBAN (virtual International Bank Account Number), assigned to a specific end customer or currency. The intended recipient of the funds is immediately clear; each payment is automatically recorded against the correct virtual account in the ledger at the point of receipt, with no manual intervention.

The result is fewer reconciliation errors and support queries, and clearer audit trails and payment visibility.

“ClearBank’s virtual accounts were a foundational element for us to build our capabilities on, managing the flow of payments to and from our clients. That’s key for our customers to improve how they reconcile transactions from their own end users,”

Claire Barratt, Head of Banking at BCB Group

Mambu and ClearBank have also helped protect a significant annual revenue stream of more than £6 million while strengthening the resilience of BCB Group’s UK and European operations. The partnership is now supporting the business as it broadens its payment capabilities, supports new B2C use cases, and reduces operational complexity as it grows.

Building together for the future

As digital assets move from the margins of financial services into the mainstream, the infrastructure behind them must be faster, more resilient, and built for a regulated future.

For BCB Group, partnering with tech-first providers like ClearBank and Mambu creates a foundation for that future. One that combines real-time settlement, scalable account infrastructure and trusted banking rails to support the next generation of digital asset payments across the UK and Europe.

“The collaboration between Mambu and ClearBank has been key. Both teams consistently focus on how we can deliver the best possible service to our customers. The partnership lets us move quicker on infrastructure we trust to scale with us, and that simply works well,” Barratt comments. “Looking ahead, we’re excited about ClearBank bringing in smart routing for European payments, which would give us international payout capabilities through the European bank. And we believe the Mambu–ClearBank integration will support that move very well.”
